Directors of the 20th Intercoiffure World Congress Rio 2008 were in New York,
from October 7th to 9th to participate in the event organized by Intercoiffure
North America, for some 500 beauty professionals from the United States and Canada.
Antônio de Carvalho Júnior (coordinator of the Rio 2008 in Brazil)
and Jean Pierre Dufoi (international coordinator of the Rio 2008 Congress) attended
the event and took advantage of the opportunity to promote the Rio 2008 Intercoiffure
Congress and distribute registration folders amidst the professionals participating.
Through their contacts with Kenneth Anders (president of Intercoiffure North
America), Louis Christie (elected president, taking over in January 2007),
Candy Codner (Intercoiffure Atlanta), Nino Altobelli (Intercoiffure Minnesota),
and Bobby Fairbanks (Intercoiffure Canada), the representatives of the Rio 2008
Congress could feel a great enthusiasm amongst the North American and Canadian
hairdressers. First estimates show that over 200 professionals of both countries
will come to Rio de Janeiro, in 2008.
The 20th Intercoiffure World Congress will be held from May 18th to 20th, 2008,
at the InterContinental Rio Hotel. The program of the event features plenary sessions
of several steering Intercoiffure committees, culminating with the Prestige Shows
of the World, a megashow with 20 performances by renowned hairstylists from Europe,
the United States, Asia and Latin America. One of these shows – the Intercoiffure
Juniors - will be staged at the Sugar Loaf, one of the most famous symbols of
Rio de Janeiro and Brazil.
